The Business Angels of Slovenia Club, founded in 2007, is the first and largest club of angel investors in the region.
We connect the most ambitious entrepreneurs in the early stages of their business development with the most qualified investors in Slovenia, Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.
When we approach startups, we delve into the dynamics and relationships between team members, examine and verify their products or services, business plans and market entry strategies. We also check whether they have the potential to enter foreign markets.
We are part of a diverse Slovenian startup ecosystem, which includes numerous accelerators, technology parks and incubators. Internationally, we are members of organizations such as EBAN (European Association of Business Angels Clubs), Mediterranean Investors, etc., which allows our members access to the startup ecosystem all over the world.

Nina Dremelj
I am focused on the 50M+ deep-tech Fund, being established as the first Slovenian-Croatian deep tech fund called Vesna and started with operation in 2024.
I am also the president of Business Angels of Slovenia and a Vice president of the European Business Angel Network. As president of the angel network in Slovenia, I work closely with the Mediterranean angel network as a board member, Czech Depo Ventures, Swiss Verve Ventures, 0100, Danube Angels and others.
My greatest passion is to help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into real, successful businesses. In 2021, under the auspices of business angels, I helped to set up the first daFUND venture capital fund, supported by business angels and also invested in it.
Execution and results are my second name.
Maja Križan
I’m partnering with investors and startups and help them connect and grow their business. After spending over a decade working in business sales development for largest Slovenian companies, I’ve learned what truly drives partnerships between companies and how to harvest collaboration to grow innovation.
I also provide consultancy in the areas of product lifecycle management, customer experience management, customer behaviour and journey and product development.
With my passion for work and eagerness to learn, I’m passionate about driving new ideas and turning them into successful, profitable ventures. My knowledge, experience and energy are my key contributors to drive progress from start to finish.

Share Structure
In Slovenia, the structure of shares in companies can differ from other jurisdictions. The most common legal form is the Limited Liability Company (d.o.o.), where share ownership is typically proportional to the capital contribution. To purchase or sell shares in an LLC the investor must visit a notary.
Tax Considerations
Slovenia has a relatively straightforward tax system, but there are specific tax rules that foreign investors should be aware of, such as the taxation of stock options, capital gains, and the impact of social security contributions on overall costs. Understanding these tax implications is key to optimizing your investment.
Governance
Slovenian companies often operate with a simplified governance structure, usually featuring just a management board without the need for a supervisory board. Though, companies may choose to have the latter, if they wish.
Notarization and Documentation
In Slovenia, certain corporate actions, including the transfer of shares, may require notarization, which can add complexity to transactions. Unlike in some countries where electronic signatures are widely accepted, Slovenian law still requires physical notarization for specific legal acts, particularly in share transfers and amendments to the company’s founding documents.
